    “ Battle of the Bowls”

In March Caulfield Park was invited to participate in the “Battle of the Bowls” at Parliament House.

This was an initiative by Joe Aarons OAM and MP’s David Southwick and Elizabeth Miller where 8 clubs from our area were invited to Parliament House for a game of bowls and a BBQ lunch.

The inaugural competition was won by Caulfield Park and in future it is intended to hold the event at the clubs so that more people can participate. This day also raised money for Bowls Clubs who were affected by the recent floods in Victoria and Queensland and the Western Australia Bushfires.

Caulfield Park was represented by Sue and Joe Aarons, Gary Hartmann, Bella Kotek, Ann McCarthy, Brian Rosenberg and Desiree and Tom Macaulay.

"Day on the green a family affair"

Rod Rabinov and his 15-year-old son Elliot created history at Caulfield Park Bowls Club when they each won major championships at the conclusion of the 2010/2011 lawn bowls season.

Rod was victorious winning the Men’s Proportional Championship (100 Up) and Elliot produced amazing skills to win the 2010/2011 Men’s Presidents Trophy. Both have been playing lawn bowls for only two seasons, anf have shown significant improvement to win these coveted trophies against stiff opposition from within the club.

Following an introduction to the sport via some social bowling, the Rabinov family took the next step to join as full club members, and were trained by club coaches to play competitive pennant bowls and club competitions.

Elliot is the youngest member at the club, and has now been earmarked for a career at the elite level following his display at the club championships, where he demonstrated obvious natural ability.
