CAULFIELD PARK WINS LAWN BOWLS FLAG 2010 - 2011
This season’s Saturday Metropolitan Lawn Bowls Pennant Season finished with Caulfield Park Bowling Club winning the Division 3 flag. After having won several Section Flags in recent years this is only the third Division Flag they have won in the last 15 years.
After having played in 5 finals to achieve this victory Caulfield Park defeated Flemington/Kensington by 23 shots with a score of 100 to 77 in the final. As a result of this victory Caulfield Park returns to Division 2 next season. The final was played in ideal conditions at the Melbourne Bowling Club before a large group of enthusiastic supporters.
At the start of the season the club appointed Terry Silberer as the coach and together with skippers Brian Rosenberg, David Sebbag and Wayne Gale the side won on all 4 rinks. During the home and away season Caulfield Park won 10 and drew 1 of the 12 matches played. They then went on to defeat Murrumbeena Park and Melbourne in the section play-offs to secure the Section Flag before outclassing Dandenong Club 135 to 65 in the Quarter Final and Vermont South in Semi Final 134 to 69.
The victory was celebrated when members returned to the club after the game..
